Look, I am coming soon! Hold tightly to the little strength you have—so that no one will take away your crown. Revelation 3:11 TLB
I want to speak to the “cave-dwellers” out there, who took their dream, stuck it on a shelf, and then let the “dust of time” bury it.
I get it. I know what it is to live in the cave; wrapped in the seeming safety of darkness and dust.
And, before anyone gets on their high horse out there, if you don’t have an Ahab and Jezebel threatening you?
Don’t presume to know, okay?
Dusting off a dream
I get Elijah. (I really do.) I totally get why he ran. Why he thought hiding was his only safe option.
He was exhausted. His life had been seriously threatened by some very evil people.
He took his focus off of God.
Consequently, like Abraham, Jacob, Jonah, David, anyone, who has been called, and then lost sight of that call, and headed out for a wilderness, to get “lost” from their enemies…
Yeah, He forgot about his dream, forgot about God, and forgot that hiding in a cave is no problem for Omnipresence!
He mistakenly thought God would forget about him and his call.
The day always comes when God shows up, picks up the dream, and then speaks.
Twenty years ago…
Let’s see, it was September 2001 when I started a manuscript to encourage people in ministry.
I wrote thirty-two pages and stopped cold–frozen in my tracks.
Faith shaken, beat up and discouraged, I took that dream and shelved it thinking, “My hope tank is bone dry–I can’t do this.” I took a long look at all the wreckage around me and laid down the project.
I should have known how the enemy would come against that book. (Foolish dreamer.) I should have surrounded myself with prayer warriors and then hunkered down for a rough ride.
Instead, I played right into the enemies plan to derail the dream.
Taking a risk
I’m going to take a chance, that maybe there are a few dreamers out there who did the same thing. You had a dream. You started to go for it. And, then, you hit a brick wall.
You opted out for the safety of the cave.
But, it’s time.
Time to get your second wind.
He’s breathing on you and your dream.
Time to focus on His promise:
“But O my soul, don’t be discouraged. Don’t be upset. Expect God to act! For I know that I shall again have plenty of reason to praise him for all that he will do. He is my help. He is my God.” Psalm 42:11 TLB
If the following is for you?
May you hear the sweet loving whispers of His Spirit, as he calls you out of your cave’s darkness, and into His marvelous Light!
“… What are you doing here Elijah?” 1 Kings 19:9
Thine expectation shall not be cut off. (Proverbs 23:18)
Hear Me. I AM telling you that there is an end to all this heartache.
Why do you still doubt? Why do you hide in this dark cave like a fugitive from justice? These men are not carrying out my justice. What have I told you?
My mercy and justice are coming soon. Your salvation is on the way. (Isaiah 51:5)
Believe! Come child, listen to what I would say to you today. Open the ears of your heart.
Forsake wrath and doubting... (1 Timothy 2:8)
I would have you lift up holy hands.
I AM here–even in this dark place, not once have I left your side.
Come, talk with Me. Seek My face. I have so much I want to reveal to you about your situation; about where I AM taking you.
This, is not your destination. This is not the end. Would I leave you now, like this?
Child, believe. Have faith. Come to the inner fire I have made for you. (John 21:9)
See? There is provision for you. There is strength for you–rest.
Be still child. Cease this frenzied fearfulness.
Look up! I AM still here.
I AM taking the initiative in your situation and circumstances.
Will you? Believe?
