Come, then, my heart, sow on in your weeping, for you have the promise of a joyful harvest. –Charles Spurgeon
Orders are orders. When The King says to you, “Come away with Me and get some rest.” you follow His orders.

Sometimes God gives strange, and unexpected commands, and I have learned through experience that it is not unusual to not understand why, or where, or whatever.
Such has been my experience for the last few months.
Be Still?
Stop writing?
Come away and get some rest? What? Why?
Nevertheless…
I did “get” the come away. I got the rest part. What I did not get was the drop everything for, many months part… but,
Orders are orders.

We are subjects of a King.
And, like it, or not, understand it, or not, what I do know is Kingdom Rules–rule.
Period.
Did the words stop flowing?
(Not in my head.)
Did the questions stop coming?
(Not that either.)
Instead, I waited, I prayed, and then, I waited some more, mostly in the silence.
Healing Rest
I will admit that I really chaffed under this new imposed stillness and silence.

Some days, I paced, as I prayed.
And still, the words flowed in my head.
And, still, my King said nothing.
(Which to me is the same as “No.”)
But, many good things happened in that imposed rest.
For one thing, a heart condition that had been plaguing me for the past few years, just disappeared one day, and it hasn’t come back. Life slowly slipped into a quieter rhythm. I began to get more sleep. The rest began to heal my body.
I also started to pay a more focused attention to the spiritual side of my life.
There’s nothing quite like silence to tune your ears to the slightest whisper of His Voice.
Kingdom Rules
However you choose to interpret these two words, rules as a noun, or as a verb.
The bottom line?
These two words (in my estimation) should define our lives if we are followers of Jesus Christ, King of Kings. And, that got me thinking this morning while I was doing another load of laundry.
Suddenly, I stopped and asked myself, “What are the Kingdom Rules that rule my life as far as I know?”
KINGDOM RULES:
Okay, so here is what my list looks like.
- Jesus Christ and His Kingdom come first. Always. No exceptions.
- Righteousness will, in the end, always have the last word.
- Daily I attempt my best at living by the Living Word.
- Seeking first His Kingdom needs to govern.
- Surrender isn’t ever optional.
- Sorrows are never wasted.
- Contradictions are part of the mystery.
- Love will always be the more powerful choice.
- Fruit of The Spirit is essential to abiding in The Vine.
- Temptations to the “Wide Road” will never stop coming.
- The “Narrow Road” could cost you anything you might hold dear.
- Obedience is a long road, but in light of Eternity, every mile will be worth it.
- God, The Father, Jesus Christ, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, will eternally love you, and NOTHING can separate you from that, or them!
Finally… Joy will win in the end!
I’d like to leave you with these last thoughts in light of all the unthinkable deeds of our past week. I am praying over it all, as I know you are but this encouraged my heart this morning.
Come, then, my heart, sow on in your weeping, for you have the promise of a joyful harvest. You shall reap and see results of your labor. It shall come to you in so large a measure as to give you joy. When your eyes are dim with silver tears, think of (eternity’s*) golden corn.
Charles spurgeon
Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. Psalm 126:5
Terror shall not have the last word.

Righteousness will.
It is the darkest just before the coming dawn.
Darkness and terror are the greatest of lies.
Love will win in the end.
His Kingdom still rules!
* Eternity’s (my addition)
