What’s Your Vision?

I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. Psalm 40:8 KJV

I was pondering some of the thoughts in my email this morning regarding past events and future destinations and needed to go to the Bible to seek out Godly clarity.

That eventually led me to Psalm 40 and the words above. I was pondering all that regarding my own fuzzy thoughts and my questions about what might be next for me and another email from family arrived in my mailbox.

Frankly, I couldn’t make heads or tails about what she was trying to convey to me and that led us to a long phone conversation regarding our plans, or the lack of them, and what and where God might be leading us.

Where to now God?

Have you ever pondered this question in prayers that seem to circle clarity but never quite land there?

Some of you might relate, and that led me to wonder how many of you out there feel right down to your toes, that you have a destiny to make a difference on this planet, but the last few years of chaos and contention just keep torpedoing any necessary clarity or direction.

If that describes you don’t feel alone.

I keep wondering, “Did I miss it God or am I just not understanding Your timetable?”

Help LORD!

I hate it!

I hate feeling like I am trying to feel my way down some long dark hallway.

I know God has a plan.

I know He’s right here with me.

I have a pretty clear idea at this point in my life what my gifts are.

I have a lifetime of experiences to draw from…

Lord, Please. LORD, I need Your wisdom; Your clarity. Help!

And the sweet love of the LORD shows up!

I hope Brian Simmons will forgive me for sharing this but honestly it is SO GOOD! Below is his newsletter that arrived just in time this a.m.

I figured someone out there in great www might be calling out for help from the same leaky rowboat.

God replaces inferior desires with a superior passion.
Hi Molly,
What is your passion? Can you identify what it is? Do you know how to develop it and to walk in it?The love of God will create passion in your soul. The love of God replaces inferior passions with a superior passion. We know of no other way to keep the love of the world out of our hearts than to keep our hearts in the love of God.
A passionate leader is someone who has no competition in their heart to the love of God. The passion of your life is flowing out of that reality that He loves you. That He loves you today, right now, as you are. Not when you improve, not when you get it all together, but right now.
“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart”(Psalm 37:4)
God puts desires inside of you, and those desires are not to be ignored. They are to be recognized as part of your calling. What is your passion? God uses us according to the passion of our hearts. Passion comes from desire. Passion comes from what moves you deeply. Passion comes from what God has planted inside of you.
So how do you discover your passion?
Ask yourself three questions.
1️⃣The first question is: What do you cry about?
“Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy” (Psalm 126:5).
What is it that breaks your heart? What is it that moves you to tears? That is an indicator of your passion. Because your tears are linked to your destiny.
2️⃣Second: What do you sing about?
“Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:19).
What brings you joy? What causes you to celebrate? What stirs your heart with gladness? That is another indicator of your passion because your joy is linked to your calling.
3️⃣Third: What do you dream about?
Joseph dreamed of his destiny, and though he suffered much, God brought those dreams to pass (Genesis 37:5–9).
What do you see when you think about your future? What comes alive in your imagination when you think about what God could do through your life? That is a key to your passion because your dreams are linked to your purpose.
When you put those three together—what you cry about, what you sing about, and what you dream about—you begin to discover your God-given passion.
And when your passion is rooted in the love of God, it will not burn out. It will not fade away. It will be sustained by His Spirit. Because passion that comes from His love is eternal.
A passionate leader does not have to strive. A passionate leader does not have to manufacture excitement. A passionate leader is simply someone who has been set on fire by the love of God, and who lives out of that flame.
That fire purifies. That fire directs. That fire sustains. That fire becomes the guiding force of your life.
The love of God will burn away inferior passions. It will remove distractions. It will cleanse motives. And it will leave you with one thing: a superior passion for Jesus.
And when that passion takes hold of your heart, you will lead with authenticity. You will lead with conviction. You will lead with courage. Because you are not leading out of duty or obligation—you are leading out of love.
Passion is what causes you to endure. Passion is what causes you to persevere.  Passion is what causes you to rise when you are knocked down. Passion is what keeps you moving forward when everything in you wants to quit.
The passionate leader is the one who has discovered that “the love of God is better than life” (Psalm 63:3). That nothing else can satisfy. That nothing else can compare. And so I ask you again: What is your passion? Can you identify it? Will you allow the love of God to refine it, to sustain it, and to direct it?
Because when you do, you will discover that passion is not something you stir up—it is something you receive. It is the overflow of His love in your heart.
And that passion will make you a leader after His own heart.
