We all have those kind of days don’t we? Days of adversity where trouble comes and parks it’s nasty self in the room, and then seems to smirk, while it mocks our hope, trust, and faith.
Those can be tough days.
So what are we to do when everything (and seemingly everyone) seems to rejoice over our trouble?
What do we do when the enemy smirks at our childlike trust?
Pick up your “sword” and swing it!
I reach for my Bible.
I find a promise and speak it out loud…
To my enemy and my adversity!
Here’s one I particularly love.
This verse gives me victory and a stable place to stand as I face my adversary and my adversity—it is Hebrews 11:1 and it has power.
[ The Triumphs of Faith ] Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. —The Amplified Bible
Then I sing! I praise the mighty God who loves me and gives me victory!
… And Adversity runs for the door!
Sometimes our Adversary needs a little verbal “evidence” from our mouths.
Blessed [with wisdom and prosperity] is the man whom You discipline and instruct, O Lord,
And whom You teach from Your law,
That You may grant him [power to calm himself and find] peace in the days of adversity…
God gives us POWER to calm ourselves and find peace in the days of adversity.
Pick up your sword!
Find “a word” for your situation.
Speak it nice and loud and then stand amazed at the power in the Word of God and the mighty Name of Jesus Christ!
O Lord, how long will the wicked, How long will the wicked rejoice in triumph?
They pour out words, speaking arrogant things;
All who do evil boast proudly. …He who made the ear, does He not hear?
