I will give you the keys of heaven’s kingdom realm to forbid on earth that which is forbidden in heaven, and to release on earth that which is released in heaven.” Matthew 16: 19
This verse in the Bible has always been a mystery to me, because I have lost count of the many times I have asked God, “What are these KEYS You have promised to give us for the Kingdom?”
I wish I could tell you that the Holy Spirit immediately led me straight to a passage in the scripture, or whispered the answer in my ear.
But the truth is, no celestial light fell on a certain verse.
No “whisper” did I hear in my heart.
(Nothing. Nada.)
The truth is…
For years I have wondered and waited.
(And I have been dreading the day I would come to this post!)
I kept thinking,
“What am I going to write? I don’t have the slightest clue to what I’m going to say in this one!”
Now, here we are.
And shall I tell you what I now believe?
The “answer” has been staring me in the face for a very long time…
I just didn’t SEE it.
BUT… You’ve Got To Keep Believing!
Here is what “I BELIEVE” the keys to the Kingdom are about:
SURRENDER: I had to come to a place where I was holding nothing back from God.
ENDURANCE: I had to come to a place where I was willing to go through anything, without giving up.
TRUST: I had to come to the place where I (finally!) believed God loved me, all-out!
STAMINA: I had to come to the place where I knew without a doubt, “I am NOT enough, for anything, without God’s help, strength, and mercy.”
PRAYER: I had to come to a place of true face-to-face, heart-to-heart, intimacy with God.
PRAISE: I had to come to a place where I would SING in any storm.
STABILITY: I had to come to a place where I knew that it is only the constant, cleansing, filling, and empowering of The Holy Spirit, that will “keep me” in every situation in my life, because He is the AIR that I breathe!
After sixty years of calling myself a Christian, I realize that EVERYTHING about my journey has centered around these SEVEN keys.
For me? I believe they have been the keys to my destined purpose.
Is this “the answer” for everyone?
Truth? I just don’t know.
But, of this one thing I am certain. These have become my Kingdom Keys!
