“I am the sprouting vine and you’re my branches. As you live in union with me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within you—but when you live separated from me you are powerless.” John 15: 5 TPT
I did a lot of crashing and burning before I learned, AND BELIEVED, how essential the Holy Spirit is to everything I am called to do!
The key word here is: called.
I believe there are many things we fill our lives with, and spend great amounts of energy on, that we were never intended to do.
The reason is simple. We believe a lie, and that lie leads us down the garden path to dead-ends.
We hit the brick wall.
( I have first-hand knowledge of this!)
And then we wonder, “What in the world happened?” and “Where was God?”
First Big Lie
I sincerely believe the first big lie we learn in life is, “I can do it myself!”
I don’t believe there is a kid alive who hasn’t at least thought this, if not said it, again, and again.
I asked the LORD, “Who taught me this?” and He immediately answered, “Your flesh.”
(L.O.L.)
I take that to mean, that way back there in the Garden called Eden, on that fateful day when Adam and Eve ate the “fruit” of the knowledge of good and evil?
They (and we!) got a lot more than we bargained for!
It seems, we became, “… wise in our own eyes.”
Wisdom Comes From God…
So, let’s look at a few verses of scripture from, The Passion Translation:
The way you counsel and correct me makes me praise you more, for your whispers in the night give me wisdom, showing me what to do next. Psalm 16:7
I know that you delight to set your truth deep in my spirit. So come into the hidden places of my heart and teach me wisdom. Psalm 51:6
Help us to remember that our days are numbered, and help us to interpret our lives correctly. Set your wisdom deeply in our hearts so that we may accept your correction. Psalm 90:12
Here are kingdom revelations, words to live by, and words of wisdom given to empower you to reign in life, written as proverbs by Israel’s King Solomon, David’s son. Proverbs 1:1
How then does a man gain the essence of wisdom? We cross the threshold of true knowledge when we live in obedient devotion to God. Stubborn know-it-alls will never stop to do this, for they scorn true wisdom and knowledge. Proverbs 1:7
Fruitfulness from The Essential Dove!
And I will ask the Father and he will give you another Savior, the Holy Spirit of Truth, who will be to you a friend just like me—and he will never leave you. The world won’t receive him because they can’t see him or know him. But you will know him intimately, because he will make his home in you and will live inside you. John 14:16-17 TPT
Jesus did not return to the Father without promising us that He would send someone who would help us to live lives of fruitfulness as we walk out this calling of ours.
But when the Father sends the Spirit of Holiness, the One like me who sets you free, he will teach you all things in my name. And he will inspire you to remember every word that I’ve told you. John 14:26 TPT
If you think you can do quite nicely without the guidance, teaching, and presence of the Holy Spirit, every minute of every day?
Well then, I am sincerely sorry for you. You’re not yet done with running into brick walls and your “fruitfulness” is seriously impaired.
Here is a prayer for you from Psalm 86:17,
Send me a miraculous sign to show me how much you love me, so that those who hate me will see it and be ashamed. Don’t they know that you, Lord, are my comforter, the one who comes to help me?
May you discover the truth: “Apart from Him,” you can do nothing lasting, or enduring.
Then, by constantly using your faith, the life of Christ will be released deep inside you, and the resting place of his love will become the very source and root of your life. Ephesians 3: 17
