Shalom Solitude

There was such a swirl of activity around Jesus, with so many people coming and going, that they were unable to even eat a meal. So Jesus said to his disciples, “Come, let’s take a break and find a secluded place where you can rest a while.” They slipped away and left by sailboat for a deserted spot. Mark 6: 31-32 TPT

Last time I attended church I heard the most wonderful message regarding solitude.

SolitudeOur Pastor told us of a sabbatical he took. He described how he believed it saved his ministry at a time when a soul weariness threatened to take him down. He said that taking an extended time-out was actually the saving of his ministry, and a vital preparation period for the door God was about to open to him.

As he spoke about the constant “noise” we all live with, and the value of solitude, and times of refreshing…

I thought of how very wearying it can all become at times.

It’s finally snowing…

SolitudeThe snows are finally falling in our mountains.

They have arrived later than our usual November through January season.

Watching that blessed stuff falling from our skies, has awakened a yearning in me, for some of the silence and solitude it often brings.

Our majestic mountains are blanketed in pure white—and giant trees of fir and pine are wrapped in coats of soft ermine…

And yes, I am longing for this, and something more.

Solitude and His Presence

Yes, that’s it! I am longing to get alone with only Him; to walk and talk with Him, or just be; to enjoy the “Eden Moments” He always brings to restore my soul.

Solitude(I am just now realizing, how much the harsh wildfires of last summer have affected me.)

I need some cool silence.

I want the solace of solitude.

I need what only His Presence can bring.

For the next few weeks…

I myself, am heeding the wise counsel I have been given—namely to seek solitude and  His sweet presence.

I am turning off the din and noise of social media and taking a book by Erwin McManus, (one of my favorite authors) and seeking out the shalom His Holy Spirit never fails to bring to my heart.

“Ah,” even now, the snow is falling again, and I hear Him whispering,

Come closer. Shabbat-shalom Sweet-heart.
