I decided to go down to the valley streams where the orchards of the king grow and mature. I longed to know if hearts were opening. Are the budding vines blooming with new growth? Has their springtime of passionate love arrived? Song of Songs 6:11 TPT
I have been pondering the question, “What does it look like to have a decided heart?”
Does that mean a heart that knows no fear?
(I don’t think so.)
Rather, I think when fear tries to reside in a heart that has decided to make it’s home in Jesus Christ?
That heart will decide to rest in the promises it has been given from the Word of God.
When fear rears its head…
A decided heart returns to its rest.
Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee. Psalm 116:7

A decided heart knows…
For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength… Isaiah 30:15
My sheep hear My voice…
Decided hearts will listen for their Shepherd for they are certain of The One who is in control of their lives…
Decided Hearts…
Take their fear to the LORD Jesus, because He has given them His peace:
At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you… Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:20, 27
His peace and joy–no one takes away.
So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again; then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy. John 16:22 NLT
And so, their hearts run to Him.
They stand on His eternal promises:
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord. Psalm 27:1-6
Their Hearts fixed on His Word
The decided heart will take their fear to the cross of Jesus–and the Word of God–and wait for Him there.
Their heart cry will be…
Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek. Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up. Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty. I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
