The Little Wild Flowers

“The look the Shepherd turned on her was very beautiful. “Nothing my Father and I have made is ever wasted,” he said quietly, “and the little wild flowers have a wonderful lesson to teach. They offer themselves so sweetly and confidently and willingly, even if it seems that there is no one to appreciate them. Just as though they sang a joyous little song to themselves, that it is so happy to love, even though one is not loved in return.” –Hannah Hurnard, Hinds Feet On High Places

God always sees us through His eyes of love. To Him we are “very beautiful.”

(That is a very difficult thing for some of us to believe.)

I think we see the flaws, and then, we see ourselves.

It seems so simple to tell people what to believe, yes?

But, the believing itself?

Not so simple is it?

Invitation to “higher thinking”

I believe that is why we need to answer the Shepherd’s call to “come away…” as often as we can.

When the LORD calls to us,

Arise, my love, my beautiful companion, and run with me to the higher place. For now is the time to arise and come away with me.

song of songs 2:13 tpt

This is not meant to be merely beautiful poetry.

It is truly an invitation, from the King of Kings, to us personally. “Come away and spend time with Me.”

He longs for each of us to surrender time, that most precious of all our commodities–so He may listen to our hearts deepest longings, and we may hear His.

Resurrection Power

To walk with resurrection power we must spend time with our Resurrected King.

This power is part of our destiny-inheritance but it must be sought.

In his book, The Divine Romance, Brian Simmons makes this observation:

Resurrection power was designed to fit you perfectly. You are destined for much more than you ever dreamed possible. You’ve been called to live from a higher vantage point than you currently have. You were created for the high places of faith and power, not the lowly places of fear and selfish love. Let Him lift you from one level of glory to the next. Shake off uncertainty and doubt. All you have to do is believe and let go of all that holds you back. Trust Him. He is reaching for you and wooing you higher. Don’t hold back.

The Wild Flowers Know

“Nothing my Father and I have made is ever wasted,” he said quietly, “and the little wild flowers have a wonderful lesson to teach. They offer themselves so sweetly and confidently and willingly, even if it seems that there is no one to appreciate them…”

The time we give our Shepherd is never wasted time.

The seeds of time we sow for Him, confidently and willingly, will return to us.

The more time we spend with Him, will make us increasingly, like Him.

“I must tell you a great truth, Much-Afraid, which only the few understand. All the fairest beauties in the human soul, its greatest victories, and its most splendid achievements are always those which no one else knows anything about, or can only dimly guess at. Every inner response of the human heart to Love and every conquest over self-love is a new flower on the tree of Love.”
