LORD, I trust in you alone. Don’t let my enemies defeat me. Rescue me because you are the God who always does what is right. Psalm 31: 1 TLB
And if my heart be scarred and burned, the safer, I, for all I learned. —Dorothy Parker
I recently found sweet Light when I was given “the gift” of an overcoming prayer.
Sometimes you just don’t realize how powerful something is until you begin to use it!
- This prayer is very POWERFUL.
- It’s simple and uncomplicated.
- It isn’t long.
But, when I began to pray this prayer?
I began to conquer and overcome in ways I hadn’t experienced before.
Here is my overcoming prayer:
Father, I forgive my enemies.
Please be as merciful to them as you have been to me.
In Jesus Name I ask,
Amen.
That’s the whole prayer.
But… simplicity is a clear window.
So said Jack Hayford one of my favorite Bible teachers.
I love the honesty of the scripture. It freely acknowledges that we have enemies. Our psalm today is one of those scriptures.
But, though God grants that we shall have those who choose to be our enemy—He also instructs us in how we can overcome them by blessing and prayer.
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; Matthew 5: 44 KJV
And… the overcoming Truth shall set you free!
This prayer does set you free.
It gives you peace in the place of anger or bitterness.
And, this is the prayer I pray over my enemies.
(Because it works!)
LORD, I trust in you alone. Don’t let my enemies defeat me. Rescue me because you are the God who always does what is right…
Blessed is the LORD, for he has shown me that his never-failing love protects me like the walls of a fort.
Psalm 31: 1, 21 TLB
