Utterly & Uniquely You!

The planet just really needs you to be YOU, okay? —Annie Downs, 100 Days To Brave

God made you to be utterly and uniquely you! If He wanted you to be like anyone else, He would have simply cloned another one of them, right? Nope—God wanted YOU—just exactly the way you are.

Annie Downs illustrates this truth in her amazing and encouraging book, 100 Days To Brave.

God made you once. You were worth the work that first time. Then He threw away that mold because one of you is enough for Him. You’re enough. You are the sacred painting, the original.

Annie goes on to say,

We each have to be brave in our own ways. The painting of your life is a masterpiece that will never be replicated, and there’s a brave brush to use in this painting that will change everything for God’s glory and for your good… God made you on purpose and unique.

Your Creator uniquely signs His work!

And since He does, let’s take a closer look at just how He says He looks at you.

Psalm 139 in The Passion Translation says it like this,

You Know All About Me (Psalm 139: 1-16)

For the Pure and Shining One ~ King David’s poetic song

Utterly and Uniquely You!Lord, you know everything there is to know about me. You perceive every movement of my heart and soul, and you understand my every thought before it even enters my mind. You are so intimately aware of me, Lord. You read my heart like an open book and you know all the words I’m about to speak before I even start a sentence! You know every step I will take before my journey even begins. You’ve gone into my future to prepare the way, and in kindness you follow behind me to spare me from the harm of my past. With your hand of love upon my life, you impart a blessing to me.

This is just too wonderful, deep, and incomprehensible!

Your understanding of me brings me wonder and strength. Where could I go from your Spirit? Where could I run and hide from your face? If I go up to heaven, you’re there! If I go down to the realm of the dead, you’re there too! If I fly with wings into the shining dawn, you’re there! If I fly into the radiant sunset, you’re there waiting! Wherever I go, your hand will guide me; your strength will empower me. It’s impossible to disappear from you or to ask the darkness to hide me, for your presence is everywhere, bringing light into my night. There is no such thing as darkness with you. The night, to you, is as bright as the day; there’s no difference between the two.

Utterly and Uniquely You!You formed my innermost being, shaping my delicate inside and my intricate outside, and wove them all together in my mother’s womb. I thank you, God, for making me so mysteriously complex! Everything you do is marvelously breathtaking. It simply amazes me to think about it! How thoroughly you know me, Lord! You even formed every bone in my body when you created me in the secret place, carefully, skillfully shaping me from nothing to something. You saw who you created me to be before I became me! Before I’d ever seen the light of day, the number of days you planned for me were already recorded in your book.

Any more doubts as to how utterly, uniquely YOU, you are?

Mark Batterson’s book IF, Turning Your If Only Regrets Into God’s What If Possibilities, says this about your uniqueness.

Utterly and Uniquely You!To fully appreciate how fearfully and wonderfully made we are, a little genetics goes a long way! If your double helix DNA were unraveled, it would stretch 744 million miles—that’s long enough to go to the moon and back fifteen hundred times!

Okay, that makes me say, “Wow!”

That, my friends, is God’s very own signature on you His utterly unique masterpiece!

So let me ask you…
  • Do you believe, “You’ve made too many messy mistakes?”
  • Do you think, “You are too broken because of what others have done to you?”
  • Are you convinced, “All your broken-impossible-impossibilities disqualify you?”

My answer, “Not a chance!”

The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself. —Anna Quindlen

I have learned, it is God’s Grace that covers you and me, and He will transform every hurt, each and every scar, all the broken and impossible pieces of our lives, and make them into a New Song of praise to glorify Him!

(If He is doing it for meHe will do it for you!)

Never doubt it for a single second!

You are a very “Priceless Someone,” created by God Himself. And, you were created for the greatness of God’s own purpose—destined to do wonderful things for this dusty old planet!
