I often ponder the transformation process of caterpillar to butterfly when I think of God’s purpose and destiny for our lives.
The dreams we hold in our heart begin so small, don’t they?
Dreams are fragile, and often earthbound in their early life.
A human heart is so breakable; so easily shattered.
Like the caterpillar, the contemplation of our deepest desires somehow taking flight– can easily look ridiculous to us–if not downright impossible.
So it is with all of us who dream of changing this world.
I believe most “world-changer’s” don’t go far with a heart unbroken.
Kingpins and the Dream-slayer
I once heard Pastor T. D. Jakes say, “He comes for the kingpins early.”
By this he meant that the enemy of our souls, (and our dreams,) will frequently strike in childhood. Our enemy knows, the sooner the better– because, if you can start early enough to turn a heart to stone, you can destroy their destiny!
So he comes–he strikes.
He launches his schemes when you are young, fragile, and easily shattered.
(Oh, he will strike later in life, too.)
Because, he knows, where there is a dream and a dreamer?
He must be strategizing and scheming!
This is why it is so important to pray for your children early and often.
Jesus warned us about our enemy
Speaking to the Pharisees He warns,
Jesus said to them, “If God were really your Father, you would love me, because I came from God and now I am here. I did not come by my own authority; God sent me. You don’t understand what I say, because you cannot accept my teaching. You belong to your father the devil, and you want to do what he wants. He was a murderer from the beginning and was against the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he shows what he is really like, because he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8: 42-44 NCV
If you have a dream?
You have an enemy!
And he has painted a bull’s eye on your life!
But there is One who is GREATER than he.
One who is omnipotent in power!
There is Jesus.
And HIS WORD, is the LAST WORD, when it comes to the purpose and destiny of you and your family!
The safest place for our dreams, and our destined purpose, are in His omnipotent hands!
If your dream is from God…
It is going to happen, for nothing can impede God, unless it is our unbelief.
I fell in love with the Book of Isaiah because it is here that God so clearly shows us who He is. I especially love these verses in Chapter 43: 8-13:
Get the blind and deaf out here and ready—
the blind (though there’s nothing wrong with their eyes)
and the deaf (though there’s nothing wrong with their ears).
Then get the other nations out here and ready.
Let’s see what they have to say about this,
how they account for what’s happened.
Let them present their expert witnesses
and make their case;
let them try to convince us what they say is true.
“But you are my witnesses.” God’s Decree.
“You’re my handpicked servant
So that you’ll come to know and trust me,
understand both that I am and who I am.
Previous to me there was no such thing as a god,
nor will there be after me.
I, yes I, am God.
I’m the only Savior there is.
I spoke, I saved, I told you what existed
long before these upstart gods appeared on the scene.
And you know it, you’re my witnesses,
you’re the evidence.” God’s Decree.
“Yes, I am God.
I’ve always been God
and I always will be God.
No one can take anything from me.
I make; who can unmake it?” [The Message]
Storm-battered Destiny
Remember that wonderful song that Jerry Lewis used to sing at the end of each and every telethon? The line I remember as I write this post is, “… though your dreams be tossed and blown…”
This world can be brutal on dreams and dreamers. But where would we be without you? We desperately need you and your dream.
If it is from God?
It WILL come to pass, someday, sometime, somewhere.
You and your dreamer’s heart do not walk alone. Jesus is right beside you.
There is another standing in the fire!
Women With Destiny
