New Year Without Fear

He said, “I will certainly be with you.” –Exodus 3:12

This promise from Exodus is going to be our underlining theme for this New Year. I do apologize to you all for being absent from this blog for the last month. There are many reasons why.

First, I was still trying to recover from my back injury. Also, I was trying to slowly sift through the last of all my moving debris, deciding what to keep and what to give away. Downsizing from a three bedroom house to a one bedroom apartment has been one huge job! And, I’m still not finished.

Then too, I have been praying about the direction this blog needs to go. Doing my annual “cleaning up” of hundreds of old posts, as I wait for God to speak, so there would be some clarity for going forward.

Fasting and clarity

To this end, I felt the need to do another 21 Day Daniel Fast to begin the New Year, getting alone with God, and seeking His face with a new intensity.

I’m in the middle of the Fast, and not there yet as to full clarity, but this morning I felt a longing to send you all some fresh encouragement as we face the many challenges this new season holds for us.

I will begin regular blogging soon but until then, here is a little encouragement for beginning your new year.

A Man Without Fear by Charles Spurgeon

He said, “I will certainly be with you.” Exodus 3:12

Of course, if the Lord sent Moses on an errand, He would not let him go alone. It could not be imagined that a wise God would match poor Moses with Pharaoh, the mightiest king in the world, and the enormous forces of Egypt. Hence He says, “I will certainly be with you,” as if it were out of the question that He would send him alone.

In my case, also, the same rule will hold good. If I go upon the Lord’s errand, with a simple reliance upon His power and a single eye to His glory, it is certain that He will be with me. His sending me binds Him to back me up. What more can I want? If He is with me, I must succeed. Let me not go timidly, halfheartedly, carelessly, presumptuously. In such company as God I must, like Moses, go in unto Pharaoh without fear.

Scriptures for this new beginning…

  • Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways. Job 22:28 KJV
  • Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. Psalm 97:11 KJV
  • And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: Acts 2:17 KJV
  • And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: Acts 2:18 KJV
